Logistics is not a lonely island, but part of a larger system that affects the success of the entire company
Grzegorz, this year you changed your position from transportation specialist to coordinator. What was your career path like at Aerosol Service?
My path at Aerosol Service is a story of gradually broadening my perspective. I started with specialized work focused on daily operational challenges. This gave me a solid foundation and an understanding of how the company works "behind the scenes." Over time, thanks to the support of my superiors and the development opportunities provided by the company, I began to look more broadly - not just at individual tasks, but at entire processes and their interconnections. The change of position was an important moment for me and a natural step towards greater responsibility. It also proves that Aerosol Service truly recognizes and supports employee development.
What skills have you found to be key to moving into this position in logistics? What has changed the most in your day-to-day work?
Holistic thinking was key - understanding that logistics is not a lonely island, but part of a larger system that affects the success of the entire company. Equally important was open communication and building partnerships with other departments. Nothing happens in a vacuum in logistics - efficiency depends on good cooperation with production, purchasing or sales, and above all on the people who create these processes.
The biggest change is the shift from direct action to planning, coordinating and supporting the team. My job today is less about solving problems personally and more about designing such processes and giving the team the tools to make sure these problems occur as little as possible. It's a shift from reacting to current needs to proactively shaping the future.
Logistics is the heart of a manufacturing company - what are the biggest challenges in your job?
The biggest challenge is to anticipate and prevent problems before they occur - so that customers and production can always count on stability. Our goal is to ensure complete predictability in a world that is changing very dynamically. This requires constant analysis, looking for optimization and building resilience to unexpected events, so that this "heart of the company" always beats with a calm, even rhythm.
When is the most "happening" in logistics? - Are there times of the year that are particularly intense?
Of course, we have periods of heightened activity associated with market cycles, but the real test is always the unplanned moments. The power of good logistics lies not in handling predictable peaks, but in dealing calmly and effectively with unexpected challenges. And I must admit that our team is getting better and better at this - which gives us great satisfaction.
This year Aerosol Service saw the arrival of the Yard Management System (YMS), which you coordinated. What has this solution changed in the daily operation of logistics?
YMS was our collective, team-based step toward data-driven logistics. It allowed us to move from estimates and guesswork to a new level of precision and transparency. Now, in real time, we have full control over the processes taking place in the yard, which translates into better planning, time savings, greater security - and above all, more efficient customer service and higher satisfaction for business partners. This has been a team effort and a great demonstration of how much we can achieve when we work together.
Are you interested in artificial intelligence - how do you use AI in your work? Do you have examples of practical applications?
I treat AI as a powerful tool to support, not replace, human intelligence. We use it to analyze data, automate simple reports or as a brainstorming partner. At the same time, we are ensuring the safe and informed use of this technology - building the right frameworks and policies. I believe that this approach allows us to gradually create a culture of innovation throughout the organization.
What new technologies do you think will most impact logistics in the coming years?
The key will be smart integration. AI-based systems for predictive analytics, combined with real-time data from IoT devices, will allow us to move from reactive to fully proactive logistics. This will allow us to anticipate problems before they even occur. This is a direction that could become a real competitive advantage in the industry.
What goals are you setting for the next few years?
I see great potential for further innovation and growth at Aerosol Service. I would like to use my experience and upcoming master's degree to support the company in strategic transformations. My goal is to move from optimizing single processes to designing and implementing comprehensive solutions that will make our logistics a model of efficiency and innovation in the industry.
What do you look for in a job that gives you the most satisfaction?
My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing a well-coordinated team that - equipped with the right tools and processes - efficiently handles even the most complex challenges. This feeling that together we are creating an efficient, well-oiled organism that is commanding results and realistically supporting customers is priceless to me.
